Recently I’ve been using Facebook more and more for my social networking needs. Until now however, there’s really not been a decent Facebook app in the Google Android Market. The latest update release from Google Android (1.5 a.k.a. Cupcake) included, among many other things, video recording capabilities. Google Android video apps are still emerging in the Android Market but there’s a handful of free ones that are very well developed. I’ve sifted through all the free Google Android video player apps and hundreds of Android photo apps, as well as Android audio applications to come up with a list of some of my favorite Google Android multimedia applications. In addition to Google Maps, are plenty of other great location-based GPS (Global Positioning System) driven Google Android apps available for free download in the Android Market. GPS can be very helpful when you’re needing directions, trying to find the closest restaurant nearby, or simply wanting to display your location to friends on some of the popular mobile social networks. After publishing instructions on how to synchronize Google Apps to your T-Mobile G1 it became apparent that, while this solution allows you to check your Google Apps email on your G1’s Gmail App, it doesn’t sync your Google Calendars. In fact, if you are already using the Google Account that you enslave to Google Apps, it compromises the non-Google Apps calendar such that it is not accessible. Read more »

Gmail and Google Calendar are the best email and calendar solutions available. So when the T-Mobile G1 came out, with its seamless mobile to web auto sync ability I just had to have it. The auto sync saves me tons of time from manually copying all my contacts and adding them to each device each time I add a new address or phone number, let alone trying to keep my calendars and email synchronized. For the most part I’m very happy with my Google Android driven T-Mobile G1. The Android Market is continually growing as new free apps appear every day to fill almost any type of need. However there are a number of things still missing that I wish would be addressed and added soon. Below is my list of the top 7 features/apps that I’d like to see added soon. If you haven’t tried adding photos or your favorite songs to your new T-Mobile G1 yet, you’re in for a surprise. I tried multiple times to connect my G1 to my Mac via bluetooth or USB cable without any success. I even tried connecting to my virtual machine (Windows XP) running off of Parallels but that didn’t work either. Fortunately after a few attempts I was able to make it work using a USB connection. It totally makes sense once you’ve done it but its not at all intuitively designed. Read more »
