Scavenja is a web-based scavenger hunt where users compete against each other to win great prizes. Each game last approximately two weeks with a new clue provided each day. After deciphering the clue, users take a picture, upload it to the site and describe how it meets that goal. Points are awarded for accomplishing goals as well as how fast they can accomplish the goals. At the end of the two week period, the player with the most points wins the prize.
Apparently the idea of Scavenja was conceived in Raleigh, NC during RTP Startup Weekend where it won Best in Show and Best Use of Social Media. Incredibly, the site was completed in a span of only 2.5 days and just yesterday it was updated to implement several new features including a voting system than enables its users to award bonus points for creativity. Scavenja currently generates revenue through per game sponsorship opportunities.

Thanks for the writeup! We’re excited about the idea and think there are a lot of potential uses for it. We’re gathering feedback from the first few games and hope to continue implementing new features as we move forward.

Your welcome Jason. I agree about the potential of your startup, my first thought is that it could be scaled to later include video challenges as well. Please keep us up-to-date with any new happenings at Scavenja!
