Needish is a social network of people and businesses that help one another find solutions for each other’s needs. It’s akin to posting a well designed wanted ad, except that Needish actively seeks out solutions for you by contacting the appropriate persons and/or businesses and notifying them of your specific need. Thus saving you the time and hassle of doing tons of research to find the right solution while also giving businesses the opportunity to compete for your attention. For example, if you are in need of health insurance you post this need on the site and your friends, and health insurance providers, are notified of that need. They in turn reply to your need with related health insurance solutions for you.
Needish reminds me of a classified ads site like Craigslist but reversely engineered, more cleverly designed, and easier to use. Members simply post their needs, companies subscribe to them and offer their services and all without restricting people to narrow categories. I can see several possible opportunities here where professionals in their given field of expertise have a better way to connect with people they could help as well as possibly earn some extra revenue through small fees, donations, or referrals (i.e. a monetized version of LinkedIn meets Yahoo! Answers). It will be interesting to see what the future holds for Needish and what kind of business model they implement. In addition to the services associated with its website, Needish also offers an Adobe AIR based desktop application and a Facebook App. Check out the Needish description video below delivered by its own co-founder and CEO, Oskar Hjertonsson.
