Gangster City is a Facebook game developed by Playfish. Throughout our Gangster City strategy guide we’ll discuss important info such as how to play Gangster City, how to win money, and excellent Gangster City tips that should help you in the game. As Playfish introduces new items to the game we will frequently revise the Gangster City guide to accommodate and account for these changes. Completing missions – When you first get started in Gangster City, you’ll be given missions to complete. When you complete missions, you earn money, experience points, and sometimes collections. So make sure you work hard to complete as many missions as you can to level up fast in Gangster City.
Where to go for missions – You’ll need to open your mini map to see where you can go to complete missions. On the mini map you will see several little blue dots. Click on those blue dots on your main map to see your missions. The mini map is located in the top right corner of your screen. You can click on the little yellow arrow to see the mini map. Once you click the arrow the large map will load on your screen. Then you can click the large map to bring up your missions box. From there you can select your mission.
What is energy? – Energy is required to complete missions. The minimum energy required is 10 when completing missions and if you don’t have enough energy, you will either have to wait for your energy to rebuild or you’ll need to purchase energy packs.
Getting more energy – You have two options to getting more energy in Gangster City. Your first option is to sit there and wait for your energy to rebuild. You will get one energy every minute. Within 10 minutes, you will have the minimum energy needed to complete some of the missions. Your second option is to buy energy packs from the Black Market. These energy packs however, can only be purchased with PlayFish Cash.
Buying energy – If you want to buy energy you’ll need to purchase some PlayFish Cash. Then click the shopping cart at the bottom of your screen. A box will pop up and you’ll need to select the Black Market option. A man will appear and let you know that you can buy anything you want from the black market as long as you have cash. In the bottom of the message, you will need to click continue to open the shop. Once the shop opens, you will see the two options for energy. You can buy one can of energy or you can buy three cans of energy. The one can of energy has 60 energies. Three cans has 180 energies. You can purchase the item of your choice by simply clicking on it.
Buying cars – You are only allowed to have one car at a time. If you buy a car and then buy another one later on, the old one will be in your equipment box. You must be on level 15 before you can buy your first car. Your first car will cost you $42,630. When you’re ready to purchase your car, click the shopping cart at the bottom of your screen. When the small box opens, click the Auto option. A message will pop up and you can select the continue button to open the shop. From there you can use the arrows to browse through the cars. When you find the one you want to purchase, click it. If the cars are gray and you can’t see them, that means you are not on the level required for that car.
Top screen items – You may have noticed four bars at the top of your screen. The first bar with the lightning icon is your energy bar. This bar shows how much energy you have. The bar beside that is your money bar. This is the bar with the green dollar sign. The money bar will show you how much money you have. The adjacent bar with the blue fish is your PlayFish cash. When you purchase cash, you will see how much you have in this bar. The next bar is your level bar or experience bar. This bar will tell you how much experience you have and how much you need to get to the next Gangster City level.
Buying property – Buying property is a plus in Gangster City. The more property you buy, the more income you will get. When you buy property, you will earn extra income. You must click the Get Money button to collect your income when it is ready. Beside your property, you will see a timer. This timer will let you know how much longer you will have to wait before you can collect your income.
To buy property, you will need to open your map by clicking the mini map. Then you will see the large map on your screen. On your map, you will see property that is for sale. Click on the property that you want to buy. When you click the property a box will open. In this box, you will see what level you will need to be on to make the purchase, how much the property costs, and how much income you will get. To buy it, click the Buy button. You will then see a box that asks you to order a family member to defend the property. You can click the square to select a family member. Then you can click the X to close the box. You can now see your property on the main map and it will show the timer on the map.
Investing in property – After you purchase property, you can invest in it to earn more income from it. To invest in property that you own, you will have to pay a certain amount of money and be on a certain level. The more you invest, the more money you will make from the property. To invest in your property, you will need to click the property you want to invest in. When the box opens, you will need to click the Invest button. A new box will open and you will see how much it will cost to invest. If you have the money to invest and are on the right level, by all means, invest. That will earn you more money.
Ordering family to defend property – If you have purchased property, you should consider assigning some of your family to protect it. To assign family, you will need to click the property that you want to assign someone too. When the box opens, click the square frame. That will open a list of family. You will then need to click the family member that you want to assign to that property. The family member will then appear in the frame and you can close your property box.
How to view your associates – To view your Gangster City associates, you will need to click the profile icons at the bottom of your screen. The associates man will have a brown and pink shirt on and the number to the right indicates how many associates you have.
Difference between associates and family members – You will have to decide who you want to use as associates and who you want to use as family members. Associates will give you more power when you are robbing someone. Family members will increase your defense and attack stats. You can also use family to protect your property and send them out to do jobs.
Buying weapons – There are two ways to buy weapons in Gangster City. You can buy them by going to the shop or you can buy them when you start a new mission. If you are starting a new mission and a weapon is required, you will see it in the left side of your box. From there, you can click the weapon to buy it. You can also click your shopping cart at the bottom of your screen and click the Weapons button. Then you can view the weapons and buy what you want.
Gangster City collections – Collections are things that you sometimes collect when you are completing missions. When you get all of the collections, you can submit them for a prize. To see the collections you have, you can click the treasure chest icon at the bottom of your screen.
Saving your game – You should always save your game before exiting it. At the top of your screen, you will see a disc icon. Click that icon and a box will open asking if you are sure you want to save it.
Bottom toolbar icons – Some of your icons discussed in this guide will not appear at the bottom of your screen until you have accomplished certain goals in the game. For example, your family jobs icon will not show until you assign family members. So, if you do not see some of the icons mentioned in this guide, just keep playing and eventually they will appear.
Bookmarking your game – For easy access to Gangster City, you can add it to your Facebook toolbar by bookmarking it. Simply click on the Add Bookmark button at the top of your screen and the link will be added to your Facebook toolbar. From then on all you’ll be able to access the game from any of the page on Facebook just by clicking on the Gangster City icon.

How to earn money in Gangster City – Below you will find a list of ways you can earn Gangster City money.
- Daily Bonus – Every day when you login to your game, you will receive a daily bonus.
- Visiting Friends – Visiting your friends once daily will also earn you Gangster City money.
- Buying property – You can buy property in the game and earn cash from it. The more you invest, the higher your profit will be.
- Completing missions – Completing missions is about the fastest way to earn Gangster City money. Every time you complete a mission and you win, you will earn Gangster City cash.
- Assigning family members jobs – You can also assign family members to do jobs for you which will also earn you money once the job is completed.
How to earn PlayFish Cash in Gangster City – To earn PlayFish cash, click the Add PlayFish Cash button at the top of your screen. When the box opens, click the Earn Free Cash offer. You will be presented with two options; take a survey or fill out offers. Click the option you want and then follow the steps to earn your Gangster City cash.
How to earn experience points in Gangster City – You can earn experience by completing missions. Every mission that you complete will reward you with experience points. You will need experience to climb the levels and the various chapters.
How to add money to your Gangster City account – If you need to add money to your account and can’t wait to earn the money, you can click the Add Money button at the top of your screen. When the box opens, make your selection and complete the steps to make the purchase.
How to add PlayFish Cash – If you need to buy PlayFish Cash, you can click the Add PlayFish Cash button at the top of your screen. Then you can choose which option you want and follow the steps to complete the transaction.
Checking mail – If you have mail in Gangster City you’ll see a number beside the envelope positioned in the top right corner of your screen. Click the envelope to view your mail and respond to any messages.
Visiting your associates – To visit your Gangster City associates, open the associates box by clicking the associates man. When the box opens, click the associate you want to visit. Visit each associate daily to earn rewards. Upon accepting your reward, you’ll be able to see the associate’s stats and weapons.
Viewing your equipment – If you want to see what equipment you own, click on the green equipment box near the bottom of your screen.
Winning battles – To win battles in Gangster City, there are certain items you will need. Leveling, equipment, and associates are all critical for winning battles; the greater your level and the more equipment and associates you have, the better your chances are for winning battles.
Equipped vs unequipped weapons – If your weapons are unequipped, you will not get the full use out of them. If they are equipped, you will.
Skill points – You can earn skill points two ways. First, you can earn them when you level up in Gangster City. Second, you can earn them once you’ve mastered a mission. Skill points can be used to strengthen your defense and add energy points to your character. If you have skill points to allocate, you’ll see the Skill Points button at the top of your screen. After clicking on it, hit the plus sign next to the attribute you want to increase.
Gangster City chapters – A certain number of levels are required to complete each chapter of Gangster City. Upon starting a new chapter in the game, you’ll receive a new map and you’ll be able to purchase new land. To see the new map, you can click the mini map and move the square to the part of the map you want to go too. You will then see the new map in your main window. Click on the place that offers missions and you will see the new missions available to you.
How to assign family members for jobs – You can assign family members to do jobs for you. Once they complete the jobs, you will be rewarded. To assign a family member to a job, you will need to click the cell phone icon at the bottom of your screen. When the box opens, click the Choose a Job button next to the family member you want to assign the job too. Another box will open with a list of jobs. Look through the jobs and click the Accept button of the job you want to assign. You can place your mouse over the jobs to see how long each one takes and what the job will pay. Once you click the Accept button, you will be returned to your family box. The timer will now begin on that family member. Once the time is up, you will need to collect the money.
How to rob someone – At the bottom of your screen, you will see a poster of a man. Click this poster and that will give you three options. Option 1 – view the free list. Option 2 – Buy a list for a small fee. Option 3 – Buy a list for a larger fee. Select your list and it will load. Then you can click the Rob button beside the person you want to rob. You will start robbing the person and then a box will open and let you know if you won. If you did, you will be shown what you stole.
How to recruit associates – If you want to recruit more Gangster City associates, you will need to click the Recruit button at the bottom of your screen. A box will pop up with a list of your friends. Select the friends that you want to recruit and click the Send button. When the other box opens, click Send again to send a request to your friends. If they accept the request, they will become one of your Gangster City associates.
How to complete a mission – To complete a mission, you’ll need to select the mission from the box. Some missions are fairly easy and others are a little harder. Once you have selected your mission, you’ll be able to see what you will get if you win and what you will need to complete the mission. If you need certain weapons to complete a mission, you will find that weapon in the left side of the box. You can click the weapon and you’ll be asked if you want to purchase it. Click the accept button to begin the a mission and once you’ve completed the mission, you will be told if you won or not. Once a mission is completed, you can do the same job again or try taking on other jobs.
How to assign your friends as family members – You will want to assign some of your friends to be your family in Gangster City. Family can help you by protecting your property. To assign friends as family, you will need to click the man with the black suit at the bottom of your screen. That will open the family box and you will see empty squares. Click a square and you will see a list of your friends. Scroll through the friends and find the person that you want to assign to the square you clicked. You will then need to click the person to select them and then click the Assign button. That person will then be assigned to that spot. You can click another square and assign another person to that spot. When you are finished assigning, click the X on the box to close it.

Wait for energy – When you are out of energy, have patience. Don’t be so quick to run and buy energy. It only takes one minute to get one energy point so within an hour or two your energy should be fully recharged.
Complete missions – Completing missions is the best way to earn money and level up. Focus on completing your missions and taking breaks for your energy to recharge.
Send messages with invites – Increasing your associates in the game is important as it will help you win battles, earn more money, and level up faster. Sending out invitations is a great way to do this but you should make sure to include a message like “Gangster City” or “Gangster City add” with your invitations so people know why you want to be their friend on Facebook. Otherwise they may not add you and they may be offended by your friend request.
Reduce loading times – If you’re waiting around for your game to load, you can speed up page loading by reducing the graphics quality. In the very top of your screen, you will see an icon that looks like and eye. Click that icon and your graphics will be set to a lower quality. Speeding up page loading permits you more time to get things done in the game.
Upgrade your browser – Another way to reduce the page loading times is to change your web browser. Google Chrome and Opera are both lightweight browsers that load web pages quickly. Again, this will reduce your wait time for slow loading pages and let you get more things accomplished in the game in less time.
Visit your associates daily – Visiting your associates is one of the easiest things to do in the game. Upon visiting your associates you’ll receive some easy rewards.
Join a group – Gangster City fan pages and groups are a prime location for finding new Gangster City adds. People will post their profile link to such pages on Facebook to indicate that they want you to add them. In return they will accept your add and you’ll both increase your Gangster City family. While you’re adding people make sure you post your profile link to keep getting ads after your add limit has been met for the day.
Add family members – Try to recruit as many Gangster City family members as you can. The more people you have, the more family you can send out on jobs and the more money you can earn.
Recruit associates – Recruiting more Gangster City associates is particularly important if you intend to do a lot of robbing. These guys will give you a better chance of pulling off a successful robbery and bringing in extra revenue.
Don’t over post – Gangster City may ask you to post to your profile but you shouldn’t do this too often. Otherwise your friends may become irritated by seeing all these postings in their news feed and they may just unfriend you. Buy rob lists – You may want to seriously consider paying for a robbery list rather than using the free list of people to rob. Many Gangster City players have difficulty robbing others on the free list. The paid lists include the rich list ($90) and the weak list ($72). Neither list is very expensive considering that you always get more money robbing just one person on the list than the entire cost of the list itself. Overall it’s a great way to find prime robbery targets with minimal risk.
Login daily – Make sure you login to your game at least once a day to get your daily bonus. It’s one of the easiest ways to earn Gangster City money.
Schedule your missions – As you know, completing missions helps you advance in the game but you have to wait for your energy before you can continue sometimes. A fully charged energy bar takes about one or two hours to refill so if you can schedule in your playing time sporadically throughout the day then you can level up faster. This also helps you avoid the boredom that comes with waiting for your energy to recharge or the mental burn out you get from playing the game too much.
Expand your turf – Buying up properties to expand your empire is a great way to earn money in the game. Keep doing this throughout the game and you’ll be on top in no time.
Defend your properties – Do not leave your properties unguarded. This leaves them exposed to robbery and you’ll lose potential profits. Order a Gangster City family member to protect the properties for you and minimize this risk.
Strengthen your attack and defense – As you gain more skill points allocate them to your attack and defense in a way that works best for you. Some say that your should have twice as much defense as you do attack whereas others swear by a lethal attack strategy. Whatever your strategy, make sure you focus on increasing your character’s skill points by completing many missions and leveling up.
