Choosing character attributes – In the beginning of the game, you are given a choice between three different Vices (i.e. Anger, Greed, Lust). While there is very little difference between these character attributes initially, as you play the game it will become more pronounced.
- Anger – You will be strong in battle and gain virtual quickly.
- Greed – You can obtain souls from artifacts faster.
- Lust – You may gain energy for tasks and missions more readily.
Dante’s Inferno energy – Energy permits you to complete tasks and missions. As you complete of these, more Circles of Hell will be unlocked to further your advancement in the game towards ultimately retrieving Beatrice, your beloved wife, and returning from Hell.
Dante’s Inferno virtue – Virtue is akin to the character’s stamina; the more virtue one has, the more often he can fight. Virtue is important when battling a rival faction as there is specific amount of virtue that is required enter the battle with said faction. This amount of virtue per enemy faction is based on the faction’s size (number of people) and its level.
Dante’s Inferno health – This tells you the general condition of your character. If your health is low you don’t want to enter into a fight with another Faction as your attack strength and defense strength will be diminished and you may lose the battle despite taking on a relatively weak opponent. If your health is extremely low you may not even be able to fight rival factions. The only good thing about this is that you won’t be susceptible to attacks either.
Refilling virtue, health, energy – You can recharge your virtue, health, and energy levels by doing the following:
- Waiting – As time passes, you’ll slowly regain these points every couple of minutes depending on the type of character you have.
- Leveling up – Every time you reach a new Dante’s Inferno level, these will all be completely refilled.
- Visiting Electra – If you’re not close to leveling up or don’t have time to wait, you can visit Electra and have her refill your energy, virtue and health but it will cost you favor tokens.
- Visiting Thais – Thais The Healer, located in the profile section of the game, can also help you recover in return for souls. The amount of souls is based on how much energy, virtue, and health you need to fully recover.
Skill points – While playing Dante’s Inferno you’ll acquire more skill points that you can allocate towards your character’s abilities like attack, defense, max health, max virtue, and max energy. These skill points can be distributed to the various character abilities at your discretion but a well rounded character is always a good bet when taking on opponents.
- Attack – Increasing your character’s attack points allows you to impart more damage to your opponent.
- Defense – Strengthening your defensive points reduces the damage you may receive from such an opponent when they attack you.
- Max health – Elevating the max health permits your character to enter into battle more often before needing to recharge your health.
- Max energy – Giving your character more maximum energy points gives him stamina to complete more missions and tasks on a daily basis.
- Max virtue – Raising your maximum virtue points lets you enter into battle with more factions per day.
How To Play Dante’s Inferno

Dante’s Inferno items – You and your Dante’s Inferno faction members should each have at least one relic, a weapon, some hellions and souls of the damned when you take on opponents in battle. The more items you have, and the better quality the are, the better your chances are to win the battle.
How to increase your faction – As you know, it is important to increase your Dante’s Inferno members with whom you share a faction. However, Facebook limits the number of invitations that you can send on a given day. When you see the message, “You have already selected 0 people.” you can’t send out any more invites for that day. To combat this, try the following:
- Post “Get Larger Faction” – This allows you to post a request to your news feed for your Facebook friends to join you. They will see this appear in the Facebook news feed and may do so.
- Join Dante’s Inferno fan pages – Joining Dante’s Inferno groups and fan pages permits you to post your profile link to the wall in an effort to let everyone know that you want to be added to their faction. You in turn can add them to your faction as well.
Level affects faction’s battle numbers – While the number of faction members is important it is not the only deciding factor when entering into a battle. Ultimately it is the experience level of your character that determines how many members of the faction can fight with you in any given battle. If you character level is 50 and your faction is 100, then you can only take 50 of them with you into battle. Thus it is important not to only increase the size of your faction but to also level up as often as possible so you can take more faction members with you when you enter into a battle with your foes.
Winning battles – It is important to build up your skill points to prepare for battle. Winners of battles are determined by how many attack and defense points each opponent has compared to his enemy as well as the amount of damage each delivers to his opponent’s health.
Requirements for tasks / missions – As you progress through the Dante’s Inferno game, the tasks and missions will require will require more energy, items, and a larger faction to complete. Tougher battles will need to be won as well and along with the tougher battles comes greater expenses. Thus you’ll want to continue to increase your skill points and build up your attack and defense points.
Circle of Hell levels – Completing most of the tasks in the current Circle of Hell that you are in will allow you to take on the mission for that Circle. Once you’ve completed that mission you’ll be able to enter into the next Circle of Hell. To see how far along you are, take a look at the completion bar for each task.
Importance of battles – You may be tempted to avoid battles and just focus on completing tasks and missions to advance in the game. Doing so, however, would be a mistake as the tougher tasks and missions to come will require that you perform well in battle.
Importance of missions / tasks – Battling can be both fun and rewarding but it is important to complete the necessary tasks and missions to enter new Dante’s Inferno levels. If you just battle all of the time you’re not going to advance in the game.
Dying in battle – Despite incurring heavy damages and losing in battle, Dante’s Inferno does not allow you to die. When your health gets really low or drops to zero the game does not allow you to be attacked or launch any attacks on opponents until you’ve once again regained your health.
Offline attacks – Your enemies can still attack you when you’re not online to play and you may lose health and souls in the process. However, you will not lose any virtue nor will you gain experience points. Again, once your health is low or at zero no one will be able to attack you until you’re healed again.
Importance of artifacts – Purchasing and gather artifacts helps you obtain souls. This will allow you to trade with the Devil’s Dealer for better relics and weapons as well as enslave others.
Upgrading artifacts – You can upgrade artifacts upon acquiring them in trade for souls. These upgrades can be advantageous in that they will increase the maximum number of souls you can have as well as the rate at which you can gather souls. Moreover, artifacts allow you to gather souls passively without playing. However, ou’ll need to return to the game and collect the souls once the artifact is filled.
Purchasing artifact advancements – After upgrading your artifact you may want to purchase advancements for them. Doing so offers several advantages:
- Soul collection – Advancing your artifacts increases the rate of soul collection and the maximum storage number for souls.
- Artifact grade – Advancement of artifacts also increases the grade of the artifact therefore permitting even greater rates of soul collection.
- Upgrade costs – Artifact advancements increase the upgrade costs but it is well worth it.
Importance of factions – Increasing the size of your factions in Dante’s Inferno is important when battling your enemies. The greater the size of your faction, the greater your strength, the more virtue it will cost your opponents, and the better you will perform in battle. Thus it is critical to increase your faction by inviting your friends to join you and adding other Dante’s Inferno members.
Dante’s Inferno Strategy

Vault your souls – You’ll want to deposit souls into the vault when at all possible. Otherwise, someone could attack you and you may lose them in battle.
Gifing to faction members – Sending weapons and other items to your faction members is beneficial to you both. That is it strengthens your faction and encourages them to send gifts to you.
Help your faction – When someone asks you to join them in battle do it. You should protect your faction and they will in return protect you.
Level up and buy artifacts – Complete missions and tasks to gain skill points to grow stronger as well as reach new Dante’s Inferno levels. Doing so unlocks items, allows you to advance your artifacts, and helps you earn more souls.
Use your best weapons / items – Arm yourself and your faction with the best weapons, relics, hellions, and more souls. The better your weapons/items the stronger your faction is and the better chance you have to win the battle.
Stay healthy – Make sure you are fully healed before entering into a battle. Being healthy increases your chances of defeating your enemies.
Defense wins championships – Some Dante’s Inferno players will say that making sure your defense points are twice that of your attack points is better in battle. In that case if your attack points are 10 then your defensive points should be 20.
Loading woes – If you’re experiencing slow page loads or your screen freezes while playing Dante’s Inferno often, it may be time to switch browsers. You may want to try Opera or Google Chrome as an alternative to the current web browser you’re using.
Don’t brag too much – Dante’s Inferno may ask you to post your accomplishments in the game to your Facebook profile so your friends can see. You don’t want to do this too often as it becomes quite annoying to your friends and they may unfriend you. To learn how to disable this for Facebook games, see our Facebook Guide.
Protect yourself with low health – As we said before, you can’t die in Dante’s Inferno so if you find yourself being attacked quite often it is best to not refill your health. That is, once your health is really low or at zero no one can attack you.
Don’t waste souls – When you’re getting close to reaching a new leve in the game but you need more energy or health don’t spend your souls to do so. That is, upon leveling up you’re health, energy, and virtue will all be refilled.
Dante’s Inferno tips – Help us keep this guide current by sending in your Dante’s Inferno tips and strategies. We’ll add them to the Dante’s Inferno guide the next time we update it.
Include messages with invites – Sending out invites to Facebook members is important to increase your faction. However, it is considered extremely rude if you do not include a short message why you are requesting the add. A simple message like “Dante’s Inferno” or “Dante’s Inferno add” informs the recipient of why you are requesting the add and helps them decide which Facebook friend list to add you to. More importantly, they will be more inclined to accept it if they know why you are sending them an invite to join you.
