Country Story, created by Playfish, is a popular Facebook game. This Country Story guide identifies important aspects of the game such as how to play Country Story, hot Country Story tips, and how to win lots of money in the game. As Playfish continues to add new game features we will update our Country Story guide to reflect this. Feel free to tell us if you have any awesome tips or killer strategies that you don’t already see here so we can incorporate that information into the guide when we update it again.
Country Story Beginners

Getting started – To get started in Country Story, you will need to create your house and avatar. After you install the game, the boxes will open that will allow you to create your avatar and your house. You can change the color of your roof, wall, and change the scene behind your house. Once you have created your house and avatar, you will be walked through a small tutorial to get you started.
Plowing fields – Let’s begin with plowing. To plow new fields in Country Story, you will need to grab the plow tool from your bottom toolbar. This tool looks like a hoe. It is located between the hand tool and the water bucket. Grab the tool and click somewhere on your farm to plow.
Harvesting fields – To harvest crops that are ready, you will need to click your harvest tool in the bottom toolbar. This is the brown box icon. Click it and place your mouse over the crops that are ready and click your mouse. The crops will then be harvested and placed in your storage.
Planting seeds – To plant new seeds, you will need to click the seed bag in your bottom toolbar. This is the last bag in the toolbar. Then you will need to select the seed you want to plant. The box will then close and you will need to click the field that you want to plant the seed in.
Selling crops – To sell your crops, you will need to click the Storage icon at the bottom of your screen. The storage icon looks like a barn. When you click the storage icon, you will see a new toolbar at the bottom of your screen. You will need to click the tray of fruits and vegetables to see the crops you harvested. To sell your harvest, click on a harvest and drag it to the sell icon. Let go of it and a box will open. This box will let you know how much you will earn for your harvest. Click the Sell button to sell it.
If you do not want to sell all of your crops, you can select the number you want to sell. When the sell box opens and tells you how much you will earn for a harvest, you can use the arrows to adjust the number of crops you want to sell. If you have animals, it would be wise to keep some crops in order to feed them.
Watering crops– Your crops will need watering to help them grow. You will need to click the water bucket at the bottom of your screen. Then you will need to click the Well beside your house. Your avatar will walk to the well and wait for the bucket to fill. Once the bucket is full, you can click a field to water it. Once the field has been watered, it will turn black. Then you can go to your other fields and water them.
Stealing crops – You can steal crops from your friends and they can steal them from you. The only way to keep people from stealing your crops is to use friendship points to assign friends to look after your crops. You can also get a dog. A dog will help some, but won’t always protect your crops.
If you want to steal your friends’ crops, you will need to visit their farm and click the black glove. Then click the crops you want to steal from. You can only still from 5 crops in one day.
Fertilizing crops – Fertilizing crops will help your crops grow quicker. To use fertilizers, you will need to purchase them. Fertilizers can only be purchased with PlayFish Cash. However, sometimes you will be rewarded with fertilizers. To purchase fertilizers, you will need to click the Shop icon at the bottom of your screen. When that box loads, you will need to click the Market icon. Now click the Fertilizer bag. That will show all of the fertilizers that are available. Click the one you want to buy and purchase it. Then close that box out.
To use fertilizers, you will need to click the Fertilizer bag at the bottom of your screen. This bag is right next to the seed bag. When the box opens, select the fertilizer that you want to use and click the field you want to use it on.
Planting trees – To plant trees, you will need to visit your storage and select the tree option. Then you will need to select the tree you want to buy and drag it to your farm. The tree will then be planted. You will need to water your trees to keep them growing. Water the trees the same way you water your crops.
Harvesting trees – In order to harvest trees, you will need to select the harvest tool from your toolbar. Then you will need to click the tree and your harvest will be placed in storage.
Checking your Country Story mail – Your friends can send you mail through your Country Story game. To check your mail, you will need to click the mail icon on the right side of your screen. When the box opens, you will be able to see if you have mail and then you can read it if you do.
Taking photos of your farm – You can take photos of your farm to share with your friends. To take photos, you will need to click the camera icon in your bottom toolbar. Some boxes will open and you will need to allow the photos to be uploaded. Then you can proceed with taking a photo of your farm. It will then be uploaded to your Country Story album.
Changing your appearance – You can change your appearance at any time by clicking the style icon at the bottom of your screen. This icon is located between your book and camera icon. Once you click the icon, you will see a box open. Click the Change Style option in the box. Then click a shirt to change your style. Once you find the style that you want to use, click the OK button.
Changing the appearance of your house – If you want to change the appearance of your house, you will need to click the style icon again. This time, click the house option. When the box loads, make your changes to your house and click the OK button to apply it.
Sun icon – The sun icon beside your green points is your weather system. This icon will let you know if it is day or night and what the weather is like. The bars around the icon will light up and this lets you know it is closer to changing.
Sending Country Story gifts – Sending gifts in Country Story is not free. You must purchase the gifts that you are sending. To send a gift, you will need to click the Shop icon at the bottom of your screen. Then you will need to find the gift you want to send and drag it to the gift box on the right side of your screen. Then you will see a box pop up. You will need to click OK on the box to continue sending the gift. Another box will open and you will need to select the people you want to send the gift too and click the Send button at the bottom of the box. The gift will then be sent.
Magic Trees – Magic trees are trees you get after your other trees die. To see your magic trees, you will need to click the book icon on the right side of your screen. The book will then open and you can see the magic trees that are available.
Bookmarking Country Story – If you want easy access to the Country Story game, you can bookmark it. To bookmark the game, click the Bookmark button at the top of your screen. The Country Story game will then be placed in your bookmarks and you can click the icon of the game at the bottom of your Facebook window to access it quickly.
Zooming in / out – To zoom in and out of your screen, you will need to use the zoom bar on the right side of your window. The zoom bar is located right below your icons on the right side of your screen. You can click the bottom of the zoom tool to zoom out and the top part to zoom in.
Moving screen – If you need to move your screen around to see another part of your screen, you will need to click the place you want to go. For example, if you want to see your house, click near your house. Your avatar will walk towards the house and the screen will move. You cannot drag the screen, you must click somewhere and let your player walk there.
Viewing trophies – You will earn trophies for different things you do in Country Story. To see the trophies you have won and have not yet won, click the trophies icon on the right side of your screen. The trophies box will open and you can browse through the box to see the trophies you have and the trophies you do not yet have.
Saving your game – Your game should automatically save on its own. However, to be on the safe side, you may want to save it yourself before you leave your farm. It would be bad to purchase a lot of stuff and leave and the game not be saved. That would cause you to lose everything you purchased. At the top of your screen, you will see the Save icon. Click that icon and your game will be saved.
Sound and music – The music and sounds in Country Story can sometimes become annoying. To turn the sounds and music off, you will need to click the sound icon and the music icon one time each. That will turn both of them off. To turn them back on, click them again one time each.
Toggling your quality – If you find that the game is responding really slow and you can barely do anything, you can adjust the quality to remedy the problem. At the top of your screen you will see an icon next to your save icon. Click this icon and it will reduce the viewing quality. This icon is called the Toggle Quality. You can place your mouse over it to see the name of the icon and you can change it back by simply clicking it again.
Understanding your bottom toolbar – The bottom toolbar is the toolbar you will use most often. Below you will find each icon starting from left to right and what each one is.
- Village – This is where you will go to visit the different shops. You can buy things from these shops or you can buy them from the shops below.
- Quests – This is where you go to see the quests you have completed and quests you need to complete.
- Style – This is where you will need to go to change the color of your house, your appearance, and the background of your farm.
- Camera – The camera icon will let you take photos of your farm and show them off.
- Storage – This is where your harvests and animal produce is stored. You go here to sell your harvest and produce.
- Shops – You can go here to buy things like seeds, decorations, buildings, and more. You can also visit the village to purchase this stuff.
- Select – This is the icon you select to do other things around your farm, like walk somewhere.
- Plow – This icon allows you to plow new fields.
- Water – This is the tool that you water your crops and trees with.
- Harvest – This is the tool you use to harvest your crops.
- Remove – This tool will let you remove things like fields from your farm.
- Fertilizer – This is where you go to get your fertilizer to fertilize your crops.
- Seeds – The seed bag is where you will go to choose the seeds you want to plant.
How To Play Country Story

Earning Country Story coins – Coins are a major part of the Country Story game. You must have Country Story coins to do things like buy seeds, decorations, and animals. There are a few different ways to earn coins in this game and you will find a list of those ways below.
- Selling animal produce – You can sell the produce from your animals to earn coins. Each animal will produce different things at different times.
- Selling harvested crops – When you harvest your crops, you can go to your storage and sell them to earn coins.
- Completing quests – You are often given quests to complete. Completing these quests will also earn you coins. How many coins will depend on the quest.
- Random coins – Random coins are rewarded when you plow fields and water crops. There is no set amount to how many coins you will earn this way and it is at random.
Earning PlayFish Cash– There is no way to earn PlayFish Cash. It must be purchased. You can click the Add Cash button at the top of your screen. Then select the amount of cash you want to purchase and a paying option.
What are green points? – Green points are experience points in Country Story. You will need to earn as many points as you can to move on to the next level. The more green points you earn, the higher up the levels you will go. Moving higher up the levels will allow you to unlock more seeds, decorations, and other things in the shop.
How to earn green points – There are a few different ways to earn green points. These points can be earned by plowing fields, watering your crops, planting seeds, harvesting your crops, completing quests, and helping your friends on their farms. You will earn a lot of green points when you complete quests. So, strive to complete everyone that is given to you.
What is the stamina bar for?– The stamina bar lets you know how much stamina you have left. Once you run out of stamina, you will not be able to work anymore until you replenish. You lose stamina when you do work on your farm and on your friends’ farms. The stamina bar is located right above your green points bar.
How to replenish stamina – There are two ways to replenish your stamina. One, you can wait six hours for your stamina to replenish. Two, you can go to the market and buy food. If you buy food at the market, your stamina will replenish. How much it will replenish will depend on the food you purchase.
Visiting the Village – To visit the village, you will need to click the gate icon at the bottom of your screen. This is the first icon in your bottom toolbar. When you click the icon, you will be carried to the village. In the village, you can visit the different shops and purchase things. To go back home, click your home in the center of the village.
Buying things in Country Life – There are two ways to buy things in Country Story. One, you can click the Shop icon at the bottom of your screen and select the category you want to view. Two, you can go to the village and select a shop to visit.
Adding Country Story neighbors– If your friends play the Country Story game, they are automatically your friend. Your friends are located at the very bottom of your screen, below your toolbar.
Helping Country Story neighbors – To visit your neighbor, you will need to click the neighbor you want to visit. Then once their farm loads, you may be asked to help. If not, you can walk around their farm and pick up sticks and stones.
Sticks and stones – You will notice sticks and stones laying around your farm and your friends’ farms. Collecting these sticks and stones will help build and upgrade your animals homes. To collect these stones and sticks, simply click them with your mouse.
Friend points – Friend points show how friendly you are. These points are earned when you ask friends to help you on your farm. You also get friend points when you send friends gifts. The gifts must be worth more than 100 coins to earn a point. You can view your friend points by click the icon on the right side of your screen with the heart. You can place your mouse over the icons to see the names of them. The friendship icon is the icon you are looking for. Click that icon and you will see how many points you have. The friend points are used to ensure that your friends look after your crops. Ensuring this will stop your friends from stealing your crops.
Feeding animals– Before you can feed your animals, you will need to make sure that you have the correct food for them to eat in storage. Then you will need to click the animal and you will see the feed icon pop up. Click the feed icon to feed your animal.
What crops do animals eat? – There are four different animals that produce in Country Story and you will need the right food to feed them. The chickens and ducks need to be fed chicken wheat. The cow and the sheep need to be fed grass. Make sure you keep a few of these in storage if you have animals.
Harvesting animals – To harvest your animals, you would do the same way as you do when you harvest crops. You will need to click the harvest tool and click the animal you want to collect from. The harvest from your animal will then be placed in storage.
Completing quests – Quests are tasks that you can complete to get coins, points, and more. You can see quests you have completed, in the stage of completing, and need to complete by clicking the book icon in your bottom toolbar.

Complete those quests – Complete as many Country Story quests as you can to earn coins and green points. Focusing on completing these quests will help you level up faster and permit you to buy more Country Story items.
Schedule your crops – Crops vary in their rate of growth and the time to reach harvest. To ensure you don’t lose precious time and potential profits, make sure you don’t plant any crops when your going to be away or unable to play for the day.
Expand the farm – Reinvesting back into your Country Story farm by increasing the number of plots and buildings will help you earn more green points and Country Story coins. Ultimately this will help you level up faster and succeed in the game.
Share with friends – Helping your Country Story neighbors by visiting them to pick up stones and sticks to as well as sending them gifts is beneficial for everyone. You’ll earn Country Story points by helping others and the gifting encourages your Country Story neighbors to return the favor.
Feed crops – Don’t forget to grow crops that you can use to feed your animals. You’ll need to do this to keep them producing regularly.
Don’t brag too often – As you’re playing Country Story it may prompt you to share your accomplishments with your Facebook friends. Use caution when doing this as if you post too often to your Facebook profile your friends may become upset and unfriend you. So unless you’ve just done something really spectacular in the game, don’t post it. If you want to stop Country Story from asking you to post announcements to your profile you can remove such permissions by accessing your Facebook profile settings. Water your crops – Watering your crops when they need it is essential for good growth. This will ensure that they grow rapidly and they reach maturity on time. Otherwise you may lose potential profits when you harvest them.
Change web browsers – Have you ever experienced problems with Country Story loading? If you find that pages are loading slow despite lowering the Toggle Quality, it may be time to change browsers. Opera and Google Chrome are some of the fastest browsers available and either one of them should remedy this reoccurring issue.
Get a dog – Buy yourself a dog to help keep people from stealing your Country Story items.
Befriend, don’t offend – When you invite people to join you on Country Life or to become your Facebook friend include a brief message telling the recipient why you want to add them. In this case, just include something like “Country Story” or “Country Story add”. This will permit the recipient to assign your friendship to their correct friend list and it’s considered proper etiquette to do so.
Country Story adds – Adding Country Story neighbors helps you advance in the game by gaining more Country Story coins and Country Story points to help you level up. You may be tempted to send out tons of invitations but you’ll soon find that there are limits to how many invites you can send. Moreover, if you consistently reach this limit you’re profile can be temporarily or permanently suspended. To avoid this, you should only send out invitations to people that already play Country Story. A great place to find Country Story members are the Country Story fan pages and groups. There you’ll be able to increase your Country Story adds without worrying about offending people. Posting your profile link to the wall of those pages/groups will allow the other players to add you in return.
